This question ... why leave a winning claimer in the same class ?
So many possible answers,i'll toss out the first one,if anyone else would like to add to the reasons ,please do.
1- Horse is racing sound(that is,has a problem that requires lots of vet work) as is the case with Explore, as Jay mentioned earlier today,.......Explore now lives in the lower claiming ranks, even if she wins 2,3,or 4 races in a short time period...she will most likely make a good living, for anyone willing to invest the time, the money and the work !

There are many reasons- and as a person who is considering claiming one or wagering on one- sometimes you find out the answer the hard way- and sometimes there is no reason other than to keep the horse where you feel he will continue to be profitable. If you lose one in the claim box because you have him underclassified- then who is to blame. I had a couple that I raced under what appeared to be the proper level- but it was only when I found out what the long term health issues were with that particular one. A couple have had extensive time off. When you go to the claim box- it is like making a wager, buying a stock. You hope you have done your homework- but be prepared to kiss that money good bye.
