Last night (1/29) I had a prior commitment and couldn't watch the races. Looking at the chart of the third race, I can't tell if Susanna Coe broke on the lead, or was being passed by Excellent Caviar when she broke. In other words, if Susanna had not broke, would she have won the race? The reason I'm interested is that Susanna not winning cost me $2500 in a handicapping contest I'm involved with here in Vegas, so I'm wondering if the break cost the win, or did I pick the wrong horse. Thanks.

Ex Cav was in the process of passing Susanna when she broke., they were nearly even, maybe Ex Cav was slightly ahead. IOW, EX Cav would have won whether Susanna broke or not. Susanna went out too fast, had several length lead just past the 1Qtr. But very tired late in the stretch.

Cliff, Susannah Coe would have lost either way. Looked to me like Ken Koch did a masterful job of keeping her from breaking even earlier. She looked a little "steppy" the entire race. But he gave her an excellent drive.

Thanks for the info, guys...I suspected as much. Should have never picked that race to enter in the contest. I don't know why I ever consider wagering trotters.
