I think on Sundays and Mondays, a draft beer is $3, otherwise a bottle of Miller Light is close to $5, more for Michelob.
And while I concur about a disdain for show wagering. I would add that it can also be profitable placing $10 straight exactas with the favorite on top and four other horses underneath at a cost of $40 per race played. Unless the favorite is a prohibitive one, a successful wager would almost always clear the $40 outlay. Just another thought!

I wasn't advocating Show bets as a staple or an alternative, just as an adjunct when the pool offers opps for a value bet. Certainly no value to be found in a 2.40 payout typically.
Interesting hedge technique w2w, I'm not typically a believer in hedge betting techniques tho. They sap the value out of most plays. Thus I don't play ATB, to me that is a type of hedge technique many use. I can see your Show substitute of a Tri as an interesting twist, but I typically see little merit in hedges.
