As a 30 plus years patron of Northfield I would like to let you know how Northfield Park treats their loyal patrons. (Keith this is for you) A few months ago I got an interesting piece of mail from good old Northfield Park's Keith "The best players club in racing" Gisser. It stated how if my play didn't pick up he would revoke my precious "Black" Players card. I replayed to him that "The best Players club in racing" in reality wasn't the best! I told him that You bet.com paid me anywhere from 2 percent up to 10 percent Win or Lose on all my bets. That I made more money on You bet.Com's players club in a day or 2 then I made in Northfield's in a 4 month period. I ask him why would I want to continue to come to Northfield 2 to 3 times a week the way Northfield treats its regular players? Let see My Black card WON'T EVEN GIVE ME A FREE CARTEL!!! You mean you want even give YOUR TOP Players who have Black cards a FREE SEAT??? "WOW" You do get free Parking witch saves you a $1.00 or 2 on weekends when they charge for parking. Hmmm save $1 or 2 or save $10.00 in gas not driving to the track. You do get free programs with your black card. That was the best benefit until it went from unlimited to 10 to 5!! "WOW" you DON'T WANT YOUR Best patrons betting on allot of tracks?? You would think that the more programs they get the more they will probably bet!!! So Keith I guess you do have the best Players club in the country---One that chases more patrons AWAY FROM THE TRACK. Nice going Keith!! You are doing a great job attracting more business. Thats right you are now only racing 3 nights a week with not even 14 races each. You lost one of your top drivers this year with more to follow and the purses are so low its comical! No wonder nobody wants to come to the track anymore!! To recap: At home: Cheap beer/ Free Seat/ Better players club/Free parking always/cheap food/and the best part a MUTE button to Mute Keith's lame picks. You better hope you get a casino soon or Northfield Park may end up just another vacant lot. I would like others to post their experiences here and we can compare notes. PS-Just so you know Keith my play was down at the track those months because my sister had cancer and has since died. Moondog

Moondog, Keith Gisser usually reads these posts and he has been pretty good at responding to comments and complaints. I am a Players Club member (red card) and it has its shortcomings but at least I get SOMETHING for betting my money at Northfield.
If I am correct, a betting carrel is free until 6:00PM. Why not have them be FREE all of the time except Saturdays? The place is usually deserted on the other nights anyway. I know I always bet more money when I have a betting carrel because I'm betting (and losing) at more tracks. I'm sure Northfield would easily recover the lost $3-5 on betting carrels in less than an hour. Perhaps they don't want freeloaders watching "Law and Order" while good paying customers (with money) are locked out from a carrel. Also, early afternoon customers might trash the carrels before the evening crowd arrives, so that is a consideration for NOT allowing free carrels all the time. Northfield can get around that by sending PERMANENT "free carrel cards" to their Players' Club members.
Secondly, the rebates on wagering dollars is graduated, with big spenders getting a higher percentage back than the smaller betting patron. Why not give everyone the 3%? All of that money is going to get pushed right back through the betting windows anyway. I find it offensive that long time customers with less money are treated as second class citizens even though we are just as loyal as the whales.
Third, the cheese at Northfield could be better.

Howard, my condolences on your loss. I wll not air any other dirty laundry here. Northfield's Players Club is the best racetrack rewards program in the business. There is no way we can compete with websites that have little overhead and expenses. Not a complaint, just a simple statement of fact. I hope you participate regularly on this board..it is a great group of handicappers and your contributions will be appreciated.

No way? Or don't want to? Like Track Rat said on the above post why not send your regulars a card that gives them free cartels all the time?? Do you really want a $3.00 seat stop some of your best customers comming to the track?? Like the above post stated you would recoup your $3.00 gift in additional wagering. You cost your on track handle of at least $25,000 for treating me like dirt in sending me that insulting letter in the mail and your response to my E-mails over the last 4 months. I know others yo have insulted also and now are wagering less at the track and more online. Treating people who have supported the track year in and year out is just PLAIN BAD BUSINESS! Please explain how a few perks for your BASE hurts your business??? I would think people like me who supported the CASINO ballot and supported the track for 30 years would be appreciated. Now I will come out like the non supported public when you throw a free bone my way such as your Santa's Sack, Fireworks, free volchers etc. Way to go Keith!
