Keith:
Although the majority of my wagering is on the races at Northfield I actually reside in Western New York about halfway between Buffalo Raceway and Batavia Downs. Until the past few years my wagering options were the track simulcast or the New York State Off Track Betting outlets and as I like track payouts I always chose the racetrack. The INTERNET is now a major player and while for a variety of reasons I do not have an account on the web I do have a question. Does Northfield receive the same percent of a wager made off track regardless of how the bet is made? In other words if a $2.00 bet is made at a track simulcast location, the INTERNET and an off track wagering center does Northfield receive the same fee from all three or is there a difference?
Off the subject, a personal note. In addition to my "local' racetracks a couple of friends and I like to attend different racetracks in the U.S. and Canada. We always make at least two yearly weekend trips to Northfield but over the past twenty years or so we have always made a summer road trip to a track we have not been to before. In our travels we have met and/or communicated (phone, INTERNET, mail, in person) with numerous representatives of these tracks.
To those who know me I am considered a straight shooter so I am not looking for any favors when I say that Keith has been the most responsive, informative and pleasant track person I have dealt with. I'm sure Keith can honestly claim to not remember ever having any contact with me but I have contacted him via e-mail at least a half dozen times with trip questions and he answers promptly. A couple of times he has invited me to say hello and I have done so. The quick conversations (as he is busy on racing nights) have always been sincere and cordial.
I am only writing this as I know Keith has taken some hits on this and other message boards. To his credit he has always been above the fray in his responses and is willing to provide information about upcoming events and answers to questions such as I posted earlier. In my opinion Keith does a terrific job and is a positive ambassador for Northfield.
