Hi Keith , i just got back from my off track wagering outlet (Flamboro Downs run) and for several months they have been only taking wagers up to race 11 on Tuesday , race 12 on Monday and Wednesday and all on Friday & saturday . Tonight i wanted to wager Race 13 and i got a sorry Taylor you can't wager Sams Noble Bird , we aren't taking that race ! Are you aware that this is happenning as 19 min turns into 25 min on lots of occasions. They were taking all 14 races at the Big M TONIGHT and the girl teller said oh ya but they'll be done and home in bed before Northfield finishes !

We are aware of it and we try to get weeknight races done by a praticular cutoff. The New York OTB's also close early Mon-Tue, for instance, and some don;t even open on Monday.

Yonkers has always taken every race at NF but cuts off Balmoral for the last 2 or 3 races I can't remember exactly. The 13th is usually the last race they take.

Balmoral (and Maywood) start more than an hour later than Northfield and the east coast tracks because of the time zone difference, so maybe it's just a function of the late post times for the final few races?

It's funny Yonkers doesn't take Maywood for some reason. But the last race at NF no matter what the time is the end. The computer lets the teller know the last race they take at Balmoral and it's always before the last at NF. The next time I'm there I'll make a note of it but I'm BFT for a week lol. So the 13th is the last ditch effort for some people. Next to the Meadowlands NF gets more action at the bar than any other track by far. That's not a real good sample because it's only a dozen people or so. It would be a good idea to move up the post time they might even pick up some flat handicappers who play California. Plus I would still play my picks from the computer (I'm sure others would to ) till I got there.
