As per BlackWater's post
In the absence of the Great Handicapping Contest on this board in December, I just thought of something fun to keep things going until the next contest starts up!
The One Race Challenge!
We all get $100 each night to play ONE race the way we want to - Win, place, show, Tri, Exacta, Super, whatever. You pick the race and the wager - if you win, you rack up the bucks! If you lose, you have to wait till the next night's $100 to place your next wager! If you don't use the entire $100 in one night, you forfeit the remainder, but you have the next night's Hundred to look forward to!
The winner is the one who makes the most bucks for the month with his $100 each night!
I'll need someone to volunteer to keep tabs since I'm not good at numbers (or keeping organized), and if there are a few rules I should throw in to keep things fair, let me know!

Remember folks, it's a ONE RACE challenge!
A couple of us wagered two or more races last night. We each get $100 to wager one race any way we please.
I'm really pleased, and a little surprised, at the response to this fun little challenge! Looks like Jay44224 has a healthy start to wiping us all off the board, but we're just getting started!
Thanks to The Believer for setting us up and getting us organized, and for tallying up last night's results! Do we have a volunteer to take over handling the results? I would do it, but time is at a premium for me right now and I'm really not very good with figures (except for Pam's, of course! LOL)
I'll try to have my One Race Wager posted this evening by post time! See ya at the track!!

Need some clarification here. By winnings, are we referring to gross winnings or net winnings? If it is net winnings, then this contest is the same as the regular contest, except for the wager limitation ($100 per night instead of $500 per night) and the limitation of the wager(s) to one race.
Net winnings or gross winnings?
Gross winnings: the amount you won without deducting the amount you bet.
Net winnings: the amount you won, reduced by the amount you bet.

I would like to have a consensus on this one - get input from all participants. I would vote for using gross winnings - we each have $100, place our wagers, and what we get back is what we score with. Any other thoughts on this subject? BW

Blackwater, I vote for gross winnings too. It's easier to calculate because there would be no deducting the cost of the wagers, saving a step for whoever is keeping score.
