Over the years I have listened to many different track announcers - and the one thing they all had in common is that some liked their style, others disliked them and some had no opinion either way. Mr. Young had the same as that goes- some really enjoyed him and others I had talked to did not. Myself I found him to have a unique style and I enjoyed it. Although I can't point at a single call that stands out as a favorite - there were many times I chuckled and stated did I hear what I thought I heard.
Hopefully Northfield takes its time and tries several announcers and talks to the patrons before settling on one - as the fill - ins are not long term prospects. But that is just my opinion - others may think they are the best.

There can be only one--
Precious Bunny and Artsplace; Artsplace and Precious Bunny; Precious Bunny For The Money
(Althouh I used to love the Peter's Dragon jokes, too)

Any race where Ron Jeremy was involved always made me listen closely and usually laugh. I was a big Greg Young fan and in my opinion will be sorely missed.

While not disagreeing with Jay, I thin Greg and Roger Huston are two announcers that have very few "no opinions," due to their unique styles. Personally, I enjoyed his calls.

What's his call for the Battle of Lake Erie?
Ready, Aim, Fire!...........Something like that. Going to miss that.

Any call with Wilbur Schwartz in it. Greg's Mr. Ed inspired Willburrrr made me chuckle every time. At a simulcast facility with lots going on, how many stretch calls do you hear and look around to see what track it is? Never happened with Greg's calls. A very distinctive style, and one I absolutely loved. I hope the new caller brings his own style, because no one could replace Greg Young.

My two cents........
Greg Young was (is?) a very entertaining and CLEAR race caller. With my bad ears I lose a lot with some callers, but I got every word Greg spoke. With some callers I could catch about half. I will miss him. Where will he go from here?
