AS an FYI, I am not available 10/6 or 10/10 . !0/13 I am in the paddock for Courageous Lady. 10/12 is Night of Champions- we could probably squeeze it in then. WE can set up all the other stuff even if I am not there, but I won't be able to do any handicapping "stuff" with you on those dates.

Moondog, I had originally slated October 20-21 for the Handicappers Weekend - Pam and I both have arranged time off for that weekend, and we most likely would not be able to make it at another time. Also, a mid-week gathering would be difficult for many, I expect, as it's tough for us older guys to get up and go to work after staying at the track till midnight! A Friday/Saturday night event would make for a fun, relaxing weekend with no time restrictions or other such concerns.
Once again, Howard, I appreciate your enthusiam and wilingness to help out! I would like for this to be a group effort and have everyone's input on the event and what we would like to have happen that weekend.
I'm looking forward to a GREAT time with all who can make it!

I think a blanket would be a nice touch - who knows someone who can fix us up with one? Or maybe two - one for each night? Let's find out what the cost will be, and who is willing to chip in, as well as how much advance time is needed to get them made. Any ideas on a design? BW

Oct 20th would be fine for the clubhouse buffett. Like 6:30 pm. We could all meet on the 19th for drinks also. Let me know if the 20th is firm. We can then get are head count. I will get with keith then and see what he can help us with.

I will get with keith then and see what he can help us with. OOPS!! I got my dates wrong - I was shooting for Friday/Saturday which would be the 19th and 20th (NOT the 20th-21st!). But for the first "Annual Handicapper's Weekend" perhaps we should just keep it to one night (Sat) and have Friday night as an icebreaker for whomever wants to be there. That would simplify things immensely! So here it is! The First Annual Northfield Park Handicapper's Weekend will be held Saturday, October 20th starting in the clubhouse with the buffet at 5:30 pm? Friday night will be optional - if you want to show up to meet the rest of the people on the board and get to know each other, have a few drinks, have some fun............... I'll be there - will you? If this turns out the way I think it will (fantastic), then next year we could plan a full two-night weekend with all the trimmings! What do you all think?

Sounds good--except Buffet starts at 6PM, not 5:30 (no big deeal). There is a remote chance I will not be there Saturday, depending on soccer playoffs, but I will still coordinate things. I will be there Friday and we will still name a race for the board that night. Depending on weather, let's plan on using the patio Friday night.

Never looked into it before so this will be a new one on me- not even sure where to start -

We could do our race names Friday and just eat and party Saturday. Let me know. John, Call Mary Randall at 330-467-4101x203 regarding blankets and costs.

For those interested in the blanket - if I remember correctly - I was slightly imbibed- the cost of the blanket is $65 and letters are an additional 87 cents apiece
If we go with "Northfield Handicappers" it is a little less than $20 additional - they would like 2 weeks to to get it ready especially if we are particular in the color.
My suggestions are either green(the color of money) or black as no -one here is ever in the red-

Sounds like about $85-90 ought to cover the cost of the blanket - if we have 6 contributions, that would come out to less than $15 each. Sounds quite do-able to me! I also like your choices in colors - green or black is fine with me! So chime in folks! I'm willing to contribute towards a blanket from Northfield Handicappers, who else is in? The event is less than a month away! BW

I love the idea. I'd surely try to make it that weekend. Put me down for the amount needed for the blanket. LMK amount and where to send the check or if you want PayPal. Lon
