Keith, I just looked at the undercard for Battle Night on April 19 and it looks like the worst supporting card that Northfield has ever put together for this former jewel of the Northfield racing calendar. A NW1 and a NW200 on Battle Night? It's a shame that Northfield no longer supports what used to be it's signature event. JMHO.

A NW1 and a NW200 on Battle Night? It's a shame that Northfield no longer supports what used to be it's signature event. JMHO. No argument. We are suffering from a huge horse shortage and would have had to race a twelve-race card otherwise. The April date sucks, as we cannot use Sires Stakes on the undercard. The addition of last night's card (to make up thefor the Feb. cancellation) probably hurt as well, but last night's handle was big and from a business standpoint it made more sense to race as many races as we could, instead of holding one for Staurday. |
