Was back in Jersey this weekend ans spent some time with the family.
Saturday evening my Dad, wife and myself went to the Meadowlands for an evening of races. Met Tautog and had him join us for conversation and horse racing stories.
The crowd seemed to a little better than the last couple of times I was there. It was the first time my Dad has been in a year which was a surprise as he was a weekly regular.
Service and quality of help was not the same as it was 10 years ago and as my Dad told me why should I drive an hour to be treated like a 2nd rate citizen. He would rather stay home and wager on line then put up with the hassle.
Tautog was quite enjoyable to talk too and the 4 of us had a great evening. My Son opted not to go with us and stayed at my parents house to play on the computer.
Here is a boy who I thought would be a lifer as he was working and jogging horses and due to track policies was not allowed in the race paddock to groom our horses, but that is another story.
Over all the 12 race card had me cash in 9 of the races and I came out a few pennies ahead.
The food prices were higher than my home track and was not as good. So if you venture there pass on the dining room - but don't hesitate to get a container of Coffee at the Dunkin Donut stand.
On another note - I think I may have found the key to get the younger generation to the track. At the private betting carrels tie in video games to play between races.

It was also a pleasure to met John, his lovely wife, and his dad. I had a great time trading stories and his dad besides John is one hell of a capper he should join the contest. I've been working with computers for over 25 years and he taught me how to get a full screen up on the puter lol. I'm never ashamed to admit someone taught me something.
I think your on to something with the video games but they would have to wear headsets it would drive the regulars crazy.
Hopefully this summer I'll be out at NF for a night and I can meet a bunch of you guys.

'Tog, hopefully you will also have time to come out to Nfld for our second annual Northfield Handicapper's Weekend in late October - we had fun last year (for the most part, LOL)! I'll be working every day on the house we're building, but I plan to take at least that time off, and I'd love to meet you and many others who didn't make it last year! Best to you! BW

BW Hopefully I can make it out if Mrs. Tog doesn't become one mad wife! Her sister lives out there so maybe I can convince her. Would probably only be able to make Saturday but that would be fine with me.
