I think the Governor of this great state is missing a golden opportunity to expand gaming in Ohio.
With todays prices of gas he should consider how much it will help the environment as well as reduce energy and make the roads safer.
With all the gas used to go to neighboring states - that money could now be funneled in state funds instead of the gas companies by having people stay here in Ohio. Reduced diesel emissions from bus trips as well as emissions from passenger cars- would have to be a plus. reduced gas consumption could possibly increase our supply and lower cost allowing more money to be gambled- It may just creat a vicious cycle and balance the state budget
Plus it would keep some of senior citizens off dangerous highways - lets face it the roads can become dangerous around 1st race post time or before the start of a slot tournament.
I am sure there would be other benefits - but instead he will just look at the negatives.

There is something drastically wrong with the political process of electing public figures in this country, but particularly in the State of Ohio. First of all, on a national level, we are allowed to vote for the MULTI-MILLIONAIRE of our choice. There are THOUSANDS of more qualified leaders nationwide who could run this country better than anyone left running, but these leaders are not millionaires and are not part of the political machines. On a state level, we get to vote for a series of do-nothing, stick their noses in the sand, political hacks who lack any semblance of LEADERSHIP (Taft, Strickland, etc). On a local level, we get to elect the likes of Frank Jackson, a college graduate who can't string two recognizable sentences together, or a Frank Russo who peppers his office with patronage buddies, or a Pat O'Malley who, when he's not downloading porn, is getting into bar fights. WTF!! Ben Stein had a good quote in Forbes magazine lately, which basically says that your individual prosperity and success is essentially up to each person and what the government does FOR you is nowhere near what you can do for yourself.
Thanks for the soapbox Jay.
