Watching the race video's of the Northfield action shows the total bet per race in WPS/EX /TRI etc. The per race totals seem to be shrinking fast , is this true ? If it is a fact , what can be done to bring it back to over a $100,000 per race?

Of course, I have no solid research to back that up.

Yes Trackrat , coffee would do it !
The handle affects betting -eg
The handle at Flamboro and Georgian is so low per race that $10 win wager will affect the odds on lots of races with less than a minute to post , thank goodness Northfield doesn't have this problem !

It will only get better when you can get free parking, Programs, seats and a better Player's club program. Otherwise with the price of gas and food at Northfield big "Players"and "regulars" will be betting from the front of their computer for alot cheaper. Friday, Saturday and Special race nights might be the exception as that is a date night for alot of people and Northfield might have some sort of promotion to get people to fill the seats.

Moondoggie, during this past winter, when parking and admission was free during the week, there were many times when I had dinner in the clubhouse and there were only 4-5 other diners the entire evening. More than a few times, management had to send waitresses home because there were no customers to wait on. As far as the Players' Club is concerned, I would like to see the small bettor get the same rebate percentage as the whales. The small bettor needs the rebate more than the whale and I guarantee you that the small bettor will pump that rebate back into the handle just as readily as the whale.

exactly, They need to up the rebates for northfield and off track betting. Both Whales and small betters should be the same. Also durning the week free cartels and reduced concessions would help.

So... coffee, free parking, programs, seats...... more Players Club benefits......... How about a reasonably priced hot dog and soft drink (or better yet, beer) and most of all.........
SLOTS!
Ya wanna see the handle go up, someone go kick Ted in the A@@ right now!!
Some day soon, I hope!

All the above could benefit on track handle - Northfield has always relied on the simulcast dollar - this means you have to have a better product than your competition especially when you have a lot of it. Right now the product IMO is at an all time low.

As a bettor seeing sometimes as many as 3 NW1 a card, its hard to invest. I useto love the claiming ranks Northfield once had, its alot harder to put money in these days.
