Guys:
I still have all kinds of problems logging on. For some reason when I initially log on it is as The Believer described in his post - it shows I'm logged in but I am in a guest status where I can't see member only sites such as Cliff's or Jay's and cannot post. After an hour or so I then pop into a normal member status. It is very frustrating in that I often am not home from work till after 6 p.m. and many times have been unable to post selections as my ability to post does not come till after the first race is off. Tonight was a perfect example. Home from vacation in the late afternoon I turned on my computer about half hour before the first went off, took a look at the entries, decided to try a couple of wagers in the contest and could not post though it indicated I was logged on. Now, several hours later I am again in regular member status. I am planning to upgrade my computer in the near future and hope that solves my problem.

The first question is "Does this happen on any PC that you use when logging into this website with or just one specfic PC?
If the answer is "any and all PC's", then my guess is that it's a Proboard Issue...corrupt profile, etc....and the best dope test would be to give the believer or TrackRat your current password and have them give it a try. It should fail for them also.
If the problem occurs at your "usual" PC ONLY, then it's something on your PC. Are you using something less than Internet Explorer 6.0? Are you using Windows 98 or, God forbid, Millenium or 95? 98 should work just fine, but I would highly recommend upgrading, as security updates are no longer available and have not been for quite some time. I had an older PC on the internet yesterday, using Windows 98 and Media Player 4.0 and I was able to go to this message board and play the video from BetHarness just fine. Anyway......I doubt if your ISP is having problems, but please get rid of dial-up and/or DSL if your geographical area allows you to. Just thought I'd mention that.
With all that being said, clear all tmp files and cookies. This is a major cause of websites not performing optimally. This entails MORE than just clicking on "Tools", "Internet Options" and "delete cookies" or "delete all". It's best to go to your "C" drive under "MyComputer", then go to c:\Documents and Setting\"yourname"\Local Settings\temp. ALSO go to c:\windows\temp and c:\Documents and Settings\"your name"\temporary internet files.
Again, depending of what version of Windows you have, these directories may vary AND they may be hidden. It is not uncommon for someone to have over 2000 "cookies" hidden even after they thought they had cleared them. This is good practice, regardless if you can log onto this website or not. If you do not see a "Local Settings" folder, it is hidden. (XP and probably Vista).
Botton line, if the problem lies only with your PC, it's either a bug in your PC, like a key logger previously mentioned by Tautog, or a security setting. Also, if your using Mozilla as your browser, that opens up a whole other discussion, but Mozille rarely is the cause of any problems.
My guess is to create a whole new name, profile, passwd, etc and see what happens. Again, the key variable vis whether it happens JUST on your PC or ANY PC.
