Two questions here:
Q1) How much money do you take to the track with you? Q2) What is the largest single wager you have ever made?
A1) $500 A2) The largest single wager I have made would be a $50 exacta box and that only happened once and it was NOT PRETTY.

These days, its rare for me to go out with more than $300 to wager. in the old days, the banroll was $1k. Period. No more, no less (not superstitious at all). The largest single wager-- several $1k to show on 1-9s in the days before simulcasting, when the guaranteed return was still a dime on the dollar. Biggest aggregate wager-- Brown Jug Final 1988. $500 to win; $300 exacta with the Guida entry second and a $100 tri key BJ over Albert Albert, the Guida entry and Dare You To ($600) for a total of $1400.

Been married 21 1/2, we are talking late 70s, early 80s. (Jug week was always an exception for me until I began coaching HS soccer. A week to go nuts with my buddies-- great food, too much beer (or wine) and lots of gambling)

Trackrat:
I usually take an even $400 for wagering and then another $20 - $25 for "other" items such as a simulcast program, soft drinks or a snack. I always try to have my main wagering track; almost always Northfield, handicapped in advance. I lay out my wagers in advance and then make adjustments for scratches, track condition, driver changes and sadly in the latter races for my usual diminished bankroll.
I have been partners in a couple of large wagers in the $200 - $300 range. This is usually on a big race such as the Breeders Cup or Derby where we play a large trifecta or superfecta. I really can't think of many individual wagers that go over $100. More often I'll put maybe up to $60 in a superfecta wheel or perhaps play a $64 pick four ticket. My usual wager on a race is in the $25 - $40 range.

It depends....I usually have $300 or so. The largest bet was actually a $2500 to win on Deputed Testimony in the 1983 Preakness. I had been watching him all year and I knew a few people in the Boniface barn and decided to take the plunge.

I start the night with my $500 bankroll, betting Northfield. If my wagering is cold at Northfield (after losing a few races and not even being close), I usually look to the Meadowlands for recovery. I like the Meadowlands because (obviously) the quality of driving is more consistent across the board than Northfield's driver colony, almost eliminating one variable in the handicapping puzzle. Many nights I make nothing at Northfield, but the Meadowlands pulls me out.

I agree Giss but,I had him capped as my best $ horse of the day as long as the rain we were expecting got here in time for the race he was in.(it was maybe the 7th race)It was maybe 12=15 yrs ago.But i wound up catching Billy Irvine adding lasix to one of his horses in the 2nd half of the dd.I wound up catching the dd,and had to sign for a $1 tri that was just over the $600 line.So the stars started lineing up as it started pouring rain about 2 races be4 the trot i was waiting 4.I must confess,i had Tye capped to go to the front and not look back, but he took back and made a move going to the qtr,and had the lead at the half. But no way,do i have that kind of money on Tye Loy without cashing the tickets earlier in the card, and the rain arriving on Q.lol.

Largest bet....exotic $500 exacta box at Meadowlands Preview Lobell and another horse forgot who it was. Hit paid $ 6.80 and biggest straight bet $1,100 show on a horse at santa anita. Dont bet anymore. Tired of losing my money, go to the truck with less then $20 bucks! and no debit or credit cards! lol
