Wendy(sp) Ross, the young lady doing the Handicapping for the 13th race, the only race of which I was able to watch, may be the worst handicapper I have ever seen handicap a race. Awful. I don't know if it was her first time or whatever the excuse is, but please, don't let it happen again! It was actually painful watching her. She just stated wrong comment after wrong comment and continually stammered with what she actually able to get out. Would be a real good way not to increase the betting publics interest. Of course the is in my opinion....

Thanks for the opinion It was her first day on the job-- give her a break. We got a lot of favorable comments, as well. Wendy is from a racing family and knows her stuff. She was better than Don Hoover on his first day, lol. Probably better than me, too.
When you are on air, the hardest thing to do is deal with a mistake. The first time you screw up, there is a tendency to compound the errors while trying to correct them. Trust me

For what it's worth - I watched her earlier in the evening for a few races and she did a nice job, including hit a tri.

Yes-- I have not met her yet, nor seen her personnell file, lol, but I understand she is Buster (Jerry's) daughter-- Danny's niece. Dan's back issues have been a problem for him. I know he was looking into taking the judge's course, but am unsure if he did. |

Rock on!! You should be so lucky, lol. Actually, due to Dave B doing triple duty (His Racing Operatios stuff, Cedar Downs AND interim Race Secretary) Wendy was brought in on an internship to help out. Plus we have Media Guide release, Battle of Lake Erie and Wall of Fame all within about two weeks of each other, so we are very busy this spring. You are stuck with me for at least the immediate future. |
