As one who isn't afraid of controversy I'll start this thread.
Pete shouldn't be penalized because there was no rule in effect when he made his wager. He pulled it down and it's his in my opinion. Besides it's a sprint now between him and LSM let the best capper win the crown.
For the future I think what Jay said goes. Would coulda, if it isn't hit at the track it's a consolation. There no reason to compute it and reward someone the if they take down a bigger pot the next day. I thinks the feds call that double dipping.
One more example that happens at the Meadowlands at least once a month if not more. A ten cent super takes down the whole pool. I will play some crazy ones for $1 the next 2 programs because it's the only way I have a slim chance of winning. If a dime pulls it down do I get ten times the amount? This needs to be addressed before another month begins. I've seen a dime win 12 grand at the ML, that's not too shabby. Should I get 120 thousand and give almost any other person in the contest no chance?
Having said that congratulations to LSM and Kass for entering the stretch with huge leads. I wish I had that exacta boxed. ;D

Tautog, I have no objection to whatever the consensus is among those on the board. My only concern is being able to discern how much to credit each winning wager in our contest. We have had difficulty doing that with the Pick Five in an earlier month, so we discontinued that wager in our contest. If we do the same next month with the Pick Four and the month after that with the Pick Three, well, you see where that is going.
I vote to restore the Pick Five and keep all other exotic bets. If no one hits them (Pick Three, Four or Five) at the track, there will be no full payout in our contest. Obviously, our contestant would still get the consolation payout, as posted, if his exotic wager includes the consolation numbers.
I'm interested in hearing how we should handle the ten cent superfecta, because that has the potential for lots of accounting problems in our contest.

My only view on the pick 4 thing, is if you hit the pk4 on the night of a carryover you get the entire pool. If you hit the following night when the carryover is applied I think you should get the payout minus the carryover because you already have that money, so you would be getting it twice. Its like eating your last donut on Thursday night and you go back for the same last donut on friday, you couldn't eat it on friday because you already ate it on thursday.
And I'm not suggesting Pete be penalized but we should clarify for the future

I'm in total agreement with you restore everything. If it's not hit at the track the consolation is paid. It's not fair to you or the Giss to try and compute it ,you do a great job, I can't fathom doing it. Same deal with the super if one person takes it down for a dime they get the whole pool not ten times the dime. I guess if you really like it you can bet it in real life and these problems would be avoided. I spoke to Broadbrush this morning he once took down an 17 plus grand pick 4 at Laurel for a buck. They posted it as a $2 pick four paying 34,000 even though he was the only one to have it and the pool was half that. I was shaking my head when he told me this, it's not the first time. Just my opinion the majority rules. I really don't play the the 4's or 5's anyway have enough trouble hold water here lol.
