I have my trainers license and my QF drivers License.
Well Bet should be qualified around the end of the month and will most likely race between the Meadowlands and Yonkers.
Toy will race tomorrow at Buffalo and should be competitive with Kakaley in the bike.
Hannah is out to be bred and the 3 yr old has been leased. Holding off on expanding to see what the future holds here over the next couple of weeks at the Home Of The Flying Turns.
With the recent turn of events-I have not spent time handicapping Northfield but have chosen to spend my time handicapping other locals predominately The Meadowlands, and Yonkers.
Actually have not been to Northfield in a while not sure when I will venture to my home track again.

Jay , thanks for keeping us up to speed on your stable I sure hope Northfield can turn it around and find ways to keep and or attract owners like yourself who are both competive business type horsemen and passionette about the sport / business of harness racing.
Thanks for the heads up on Where's My Toy , congrats on the victory and Good Luck in the future !

IMO Northfield is on a crash course with disaster. As a horseman first and a gambler 2nd the lack of a good claiming rank has had me over the years reduce my stable and eventually move on.
As a patron when they started to impose a sales tax on beverages to squeeze every nickle and dime out of the people who do venture to the track in the dead of winter that was the signal to stop going altogether. One is already paying above going prices of the local establishments - with the theory that there is such a great product on the track - then add a few pennies on top of that is like adding insult to injury.
Trust me I am not a big time gambler usually only pushing $500 to $750 through the windows when I go so they will not miss me. But then again there may be others out there like me.

Jay, you obviously know that it was the State of Ohio, not Northfield, who imposed the sales tax. However, Northfield COULD have reduced the price of the product accordingly, to absorb the sales tax, and still made a HANDSOME profit on every drink they sell.

Perception is everything- maybe the state- yes, but adding it instead of absorbing it in time when most businesses are making concessions to maintain the sales revenue this will most likely do more harm than good. Just my opinion for the few cents it is worth. Penny wise and pound foolish.

As was stated elsewhere, sales tax in Ohio on soft drinks has been around for over 30 years. Basically a large soda before January 1st was $2.35 plus .15 tax. Now it is $2.50 plus .16 tax to total $2.66. They raised the prices about fifteen cents and tried to blame it on the state. You can now buy a large soda at Northfield for the same price as two 2-liter bottles in the supermarket.
