Giss, over the past couple of months, I have seen about 4 bikes, disitigrate, in the midst of a race. Looks like the wheels cave in. I spoke with a friend in Saratoga, he said its the new carbon fiber wheels. I remember the "sulky revolution" in the 80's. Many models were considered too dangerous, like the single shaft sulky. In the end, speed improved, and racing improved, due to these innovations. It may be time to re-evaluate the materials these sulkies are now being made of (especially the wheels) Before someone is killed. Ant idea if anyone is looking at this problem?

There has been an ongoing evaluation of these bikes, particuarly the AdvantEdge (sp?) or Harmer bikes. There is also some thought that the stiffer carbon-fober wheels put more stress on the welds or rivets, esepcailly on older bikes, but I am not an engineer. If I hear of results or anything further I will post.
