thank you. I am actually not a newbie to handicapping....just to this board. I have been trying to beat this game for 20 years.. I am a "numbers guy" and I am continually trying to come up with a "system". I have stumbled onto a new system using the speed figures found in Trackmaster. I utilize the driver and trainer UDRs, speed figures, power, pace, and spped figures, and post position. I hit a pick 4 at Northfield on 7 July for 1,329. Now I am in no way bragging as I have lost more than I have won in my years of betting the ponies..
By the way...CRAPPY DRIVE by Soehnlen on the 9 horse in the 7th!!!

Jon:
Welcome to the board. I too am a "numbers" guy so it is nice to see another such handicapper. I use a simple number system giving pre-determined weights to the various quarter times to come up with a composite number which I use as a base to begin my handicapping. Believe me, sounds a lot fancier/complicated than it really is.
I recommend the monthly contest which is just for fun but has forced me to look a little harder at weekday races I usually ignore. Paying more attention then has paid off at the windows a few times. Recently we had weekend "mini-contests" where all races were selected on friday & saturday and I champion crowned based on a URDS formula. Perhaps that will return in the Fall when everyone has more time.
Please don't be shy, post, offer opinions and make selections. We are all here to learn from each other.

Once again, Great to have you with us, Jon! I AM a newbie..........somewhat to this board, but more so to handicapping - been trying my hand at it for about 10 months now. I have some good nights, and am constantly getting better, but that would not be so if it weren't for all the knowledge, tips, and advice I get from this great group of handicappers! I look forward to gleaning info from you now, as well! See ya at the track! BW
