Giss, I have an observation and a question regarding the betting handle for last night's Super Saturday race program at Northfield. As a Northfield regular, I've come to accept that most OSS finals involve chalky payoffs. Sure, there are exceptions, but most of the winners involve the wagering "favorite." As a bettor, I really cannot reconcile pumping a lot of wagering dollars into these races because the prospective payout doesn't support the risk I am taking putting excess capital in, upfront. One would have to spend a whole lot of money to make a little bit of money.
How does the handle for last night's program compare to a regular Saturday night's handle? Total handle? Per capita handle? Off-track handle? I suspect attendance might have been more, with the connections of the OSS contenders driving in from other areas of Ohio, but does that added attendance (and their betting dollars) materialize in the handle?
Thanks in advance.

Considerably higher.
Total handle?
Considerably higher.
Per capita handle?
Considerably Lower.
Off-track handle?
Varies from year to year. this year about the same, heads up against the great Canadian racing. With no big night elsewhere, it is better.

Yes and no. Does translate to tons of ancillary income-- beer salesn concessions ,clubhouse restautrants, beer sales, gift shop, etc. Did I mention beer sales?
