One of the owners of Katie's Red Rose was sitting behind the Trackrat tonight at the track and sitting next to them (but not with them) was Mike Palone, who was at Northfield tonight to claim some horses and race them at Northfield. After taking a year off from racing (long story), he (Mike Palone) was told by the Meadows that he can return there once he gets in 25-30 races at another venue without any infractions. So, last night he claimed Cee Cee Comer, Paint Wheel and Redmeansgo to restock his stable, which he said he intends to race at Northfield in order to get the necessary starts in to return to the Meadows.

Looks like Mike Palone is not done claiming horses yet. He picked up Ilooklilevada from K Koch in Saturday's racing. I'm guessing it has been a while since someone with deep pockets has been this active at Northfield. Wonder if some owners will think twice about keeping successful horses at an abnormally low claiming price.

You are right Jim , Jay (John ) races his horses where they belong and will enjoy the claiming action i'm sure.

Taylor, funny you should mention the claiming game because one of Mike Palone's observations was that "they don't do much claiming at this track, do they?"

Don't think anyone is too unhappy-- Paint Wheel got taken off a move up to $4. Epler took Redmeansgo for $3 and she goes for $4, likewise Ilooklikevada. Not sure, but Cee Cee Comer cost Ehrhardt a lead shank and a bag of oats, but not much more. Would have to think a lot of these guys would love to see Mike keep claiming them.

My gut feeling is that the first three of those four horses you mentioned COULD be competitive at the Meadows. They have done pretty well at Northfield. I've never been too high on Cee Cee Comer.
