Little-noticed Northfield driver Ken Koch had an interesting two days of racing success this past Monday and Tuesday nights. On Monday, Koch scored with a 106-1 shot and a 42-1 shot and Tuesday he logged an 18-1 shot. Getting more drives than he would normally get with the top tier drivers here, arguably getting better horses because of it and not having to drive against those same top tier drivers might have eased his way into the winner's circle. Or, has Koch become a better driver over the last year? Perhaps we have under-rated him all along? From the Trackrat's perspective, he's been pretty decent with trotters all year, driving them patiently and keeping them on gait, but he's not one, even now, that I could key an exotic wager on.
Koch had 15 drives on Monday and Tuesday, making it to the winner's circle four times. He also had two place finishes. If a bettor had placed a $2 exacta box on every horse Koch drove in the last two days, the bettor would have expended $512 in wagers, but won $3766.80.
Just an interesting observation, nothing more.
