Wednesday Night, February 3, 2010 Recap: The Anastasia line of trotting standardbreds has been gracing harness racing ovals for decades under the breeding operation of Pennsylvania's Joseph Urban, who I believe is the father-in-law of driver Jeff Conger. Last night, Conger took his 4-year-old Corleone mare Anastasia Wildfire patiently out of the eight hole in the first race, bided his time until the half and then made up 11 lengths to the 3/4, storming home to key the first race trifecta which paid $2433.90 on a $1 wager. Trackrat added this sum to his contest bankroll as he gambled on Wildfire's consistent closing fractions and cashed an 8/all/all trifecta wager.
Jimhorseman finally shows signs of breaking out of his prolonged slump as he cashed all three of his $50WP wagers for a total of $620. The Believer cashed a $10 trifecta in the fifth race for $113 and a $5 trifecta in the seventh race for $177. Kangaroox cashed $25 exactas in the seventh and thirteenth races for $125 and $272.50, respectively. Finally, Hundredtowin converted his $100 wager on #2 Davey Pockett in the seventh race into $110 as the prohibitive favorite rallied in the stretch for that win.
