In the last year, Krissy K has been one of the steadiest trotters to ever race at Northfield, a consistent performer who never seems to have a down cycle, never breaks and is always on the ticket. She is exceptionally durable.
While she MAY not have the talent to compete in the higher class trots, she has dominated the lower classes and is now racing under supplemental conditions as a $4000 claimer, sometimes facing NW200-250. She has a reputable trainer that I've never heard any allegations against for doping. She earned over $30,000 last year and is on target for the same kind of money-making year in 2010.
So why hasn't anyone claimed her out of a race? If you can claim her for $4800 ($4000 plus allowances) and she can earn $30,000, why aren't owners/trainers lining up to claim her?
Any inside info, horsemen?

i think once she starts showing what she can do she will get claimed there has to be something wrong with her because when right she is capaable to race with these horses and there is days when ryan stahl doesnt drive this horse and he used to drive her all the time

We've seen situations like this before. A horse dominates a certain claiming class, is not moved up, nor is he/she claimed. I used to scratch my head about it. However when one of these horses is claimed, it seems the fortunes of the horse go south rather quickly, and eventually the horse goes back to its original connections either by claim or private sale.
The only explanation I can give is that certain trainers have whatever secret it takes to keep the horse in shape and interested in racing. When it goes to another barn, the magic is gone. Once the racing community realizes this fact, the horse is seldom claimed again.
By the way, claiming isn't widely practiced at Northfield. At M1 for example, the same horses are claimed almost weekly. We've seen as many ten claims entered on a horse on a given night. Takes extra computer time just to keep track of all the new trainers.

When Walski had her she had horrible feet...not sure if she has grown out of that or not.
