Friday Night, March 26, 2010 Recap: A return to winter like weather in Northeastern Ohio cooled off our handicapping crew last night, but a couple of lucky real-life bettors saw large exotic wager payoffs in the seventh, tenth and thirteenth race superfectas. Trackrat is one of those who believe that the absence of one (or two) of the track's top tier drivers changes the entire dynamics of a particular race and that seemed to be the case last night with the absence of Aaron Merriman. There are so many different ways this kind of absence affects a race outcome that we should open this subject up for discussion elsewhere on the board, so that our members can benefit from our thoughts on the subject.
Harness27 was the only contest capper to turn a profit, cashing four of his six $10WP wagers for $129 on his $120 outlay. Therealmuljuice collected $190.60 on his $2 trifecta key wager in the fourth race. Trackrat cashed two small winning tickets, a consolation Pick Five (4 of 5) for $8.90 and a $2 trifecta in the ninth race for $20.80.
Good luck to everyone on Saturday night's thirteen race card.

Saturday Night, March 27, 2010 Recap: Last night saw only two favorites win their races and only three other favorites even "hit the board", an unusual Saturday night, to say the least. Harness27 and Trackrat had the only two winning wagers on the night, but only Harness27 turned a profit, collecting $204 on his $10WP wager on #3 Forever Friendly in the third race. Trackrat collected $83.60 on his $1 trifecta key wager in the twelfth race.
Let's file this one away and move on to Monday night, which comprises one of the two remaining programs in the March handicapping contest. Dan Charlino will be driving the whole program, while Aaron Merriman will arrive from his commute to The Meadows by Northfield's fourth race. Elliott Deaton has moved on the Hoosier Park where he has two wins, three seconds and four third place finishes in three programs. Chris Page also joins the Indiana driving colony for the Spring.
Good luck to everyone as Ohio braces for weather in the 60s by the end of this coming week.

Monday Night, March 29, 2010 Recap: With only tonight's card remaining in the March handicapping contest, Trackrat holds a commanding (but not insurmountable) lead with $9390 in his bankroll. Last night, he cashed four winning trifecta tickets for $528.60, but netted only $43 on the evening. Therealmuljuice cashed two $2 trifectas and one $2 superfecta for $452.50 in winnings. Finally, Harness27 cashed a tiny trifecta in the first race for $15.30 and two $10WP wagers for another $49 in keeping with his conservative wagering pattern.
Three major contenders remain in the chase to catch Trackrat, with Jimhorseman, The Believer and Cliff all holding onto over four grand in wagering dollars. And let's not forget Therealmuljuice with $1975 and Harness27 with $1736, since all six of these cappers can only wager the maximum $500 and Tuesday at Northfield is always unpredictable.
Tonight marks the end of cool weather here in Northeast Ohio as Friday night's Fillies and Mares program should see a dry track and temperatures in the mid to high 70s. Good luck and stay safe.

Tuesday Night, March 30, 2010 Recap: Through the first three races last night, it looked like Therealmuljuice was on a rampage in an effort to catch Trackrat on the final night. Muley cashed a $1 trifecta in the first race for $72.10, a $10 trifecta in the second race for $311 and another $1 trifecta in the third race for $391.60. But that was the sum total of his offense as he failed to cash any more tickets the rest of the night.
Trackrat cashed a $1 trifecta in the fifth race for $193.30 and Harness27 cashed two wagers in the eighth and tenth races for a total of $45.
Trackrat wins the March handicapping contest with a final bankroll of $9083.70 while a rejuvenated Jimhorseman finishes ahead of Cliff and The Believer for second place with $4257.
We'll see everyone back here on Friday night. As always, new members (and older members) are invited to participate in our monthly handicapping contest where the only prize is bragging rights and it's all in fun. Join us in April!!
