It took a short month for the Believer to beat the Trackrat, but Taylor nails his sixth monthly handicapping crown, finishing February with a bankroll of $3489.90. Trackrat held on for second place.
Congratulations Believer!! Congratulations also to the Canadian Olympic hockey team for winning the gold medal at the Winter Olympics, beating the USA 3-2 in overtime.
Those darn Canucks, eh!

Well done, Taylor. Some of those cards in February could make a grown man cry. Let's hope for better results in March.

It took overtime for the hockey team and virtually overtime in the handicapping tournament as Believer did not catch the Trackrat till the next to last card of the month. Meanwhile I was so busy trying to be clever with my Jeopardy/early English literature/Sir Frances Bacon references in my final night handicapping selections that I did not notice I typed in the wrong race numbers on my wagers. Of course, it didn't matter as my picks missed the races I did type in, they missed in the races I wanted to type in and they would have missed at any race at any track in the country I could possibly have typed in.
I think in March I may just see if the Beleiver and Trackrat pick horses in the same race and box their combined numbers. Or perhaps I'll just have Mrs. Horseman pick her favorite names. Or maybe I should just take the terrific advice Cliff recently gave that the best way to break a slump is to just pick some d**n winners.
By the way, congrats to Taylor and Trackrat - a couple of consistent veteran handicappers. Now to my first March selections......"honey, did you see where I last put the dartboard?"

Thanks for the kind words guys !
Canada was fortunate to win gold in the hockey game just like it's fortunate if you win gold handicapping the horses !
