By now, everyone knows how hard the Northfield weeknight programs are to handicap. We're looking at the bottom of the barrel here, but are some horses I like tonight:
1st Race: #5 He Too Shall Pass. Jimmy Smith consistently cranks out decent trotters and this VERY green 3-year-old may become one. Jimmy kept him flat in his last qualifier and finished well (30.3) with obviously no hope of catching Dunkster. Might be ready tonight.
1st Race Recap: Smith played follow the leader with the #5, not moving off the rail until the top of the stretch. Looked like a tightener more than an actual competitive outing. Finished 5th.
===========================================
2nd Race: #5 Town Goal: Nice qualifier but can Wyatt keep him flat in a real race? If not, look for #6 Pea Ridge to surprise, at a price.
2nd Race Recap: Broke twice but came storming back to get second. Would have won easily if not for the breaks.
===========================================
3rd Race: #3 Cat's Run: tightened up last week with two moves, just missing. Rosy Weaver has been pretty decent with trotters.
3rd Race Recap: #3 won the race as the overwhelming favorite.
==========================================
4th Race: #9 Gerry's Boy: lots of back class, parked out last week. Look for 9-1 or 1-9 exacta?
4th Race Recap: 1-9 exacta paid $17.20
==========================================
5th Race: Too many angles to play.
==========================================
6th Race: #8 Tk's Takeapeekatme: worth a peek.
7th Race: #4 Deena: big driver change.
8th Race: #7 Go Merrily Along: must stay flat while beating the #1 and #2.
9th Race: #2 King's Reckoning: don't bet REAL money on this one, but this would seem to be a good opportunity for Tom Hall to steal one.
10th Race: #3 Oaks Enforcer: should win this one on back class alone, but if not, look for One Eyed Willie.
11th Race: Is Ty Rhoden that bad or is Lima Ritch that good? Look for #5 Rich Tom Cat to challenge.
12th Race: #3 Blueridge Empress. #8 Shady Attack might surprise with a good trip.
13th Race: #9 Average Hoss: the motivational speaker circuit must be in a recession too.
