The Meadowlands second race tonight (3/27) features a three year old that I'm very high on. Leaving from the seven hole is Eagle Jolt, gunning for his third straight victory since being purchased by Dettore Horse Racing of North Ridgeville, OH in January. He joins the pacing mares Eagle Way and Eagle See under the Dettore brand. Northfield fans should remember Eagle See's career starting efforts at the local oval. The Canadian bred son of Village Jolt, out of the Jate Lobell mare, Jazzy Jam seems to have come of age under the care of trainer Mark Ford. Returning from Saratoga where he won as the 4-5 favorite, tonight he takes a step up in class in a NW3, $16,000 event. Yannick Gingras gets the drive tonight. The Green Hornet piloted the colt to his first victory for the Dettore's a couple weeks ago at 12-1. We can't expect so generous odds tonight, but the 7-2 morning line may well hold, as there will be major action on M/L favorite, Lies Lies Lies, who was an impressive winner last week. In my book, worth a look, and investing a few coins.

Unusual performance for Eagle Jolt. He had so much energy sitting in the pocket behind Lies that it looked like he was going to run over the pace setter. Looked like Gingras could not control him. At the top of the stretch, Eagle Jolt backed off and that ended his contention for tonight. Might have been interesting to see Gingras pull the pocket before the outside cover pinned him in. Might be worth a look next week at a better price still.

The consensus is that Gingras had such a tight hold that the horse choked down. Nothing from either the driver or trainer on that account, but it sure looked that way. I'll be backing the horse the next time out for sure.

The tight hold and choking down might explain it because that horse wanted to go and as tight as Gingras had him, the horse was running up the back of the horse in front of him. For those who just look at the PP chart next week, it will look like the horse just faded at the top of the stretch. Might get a much better price next week.

Cliff, Trackrat, I watched the race and there is no doubt that horse choked down. It is unfortunate as he seemed to have a ton of pace. He would not relax in the pocket, hopefully this will come with maturity.

Eagle Jolt back in the 5th at M1 tonight (4/17) after an impressive win last weekend at Saratoga. Yannick back in the bike with only one horse to beat (imo), the ML favorite #7 Rockin The House with Sears. Price should be fair ( 3 or 4 to 1). I know where my money will be.
