Tuesday Night, April 27, 2010 Recap: For the second night in a row, one of our handicapping crew racked up a multi-thousand dollar profit with a 12-1 shot on the front end. This time, Scojer placed a $50 WP wager on #6 Theetownlittleguy in the ninth race and also included him in a $5 five horse trifecta box. Scojer recovered $905 on his WP wager and $4105.50 (2.5 x $1642.20) on his trifecta bet for a total of $5010.50 on the night. He vaults over everyone else into second place in the April contest, but still five grand behind Cliff.
Jimhorseman just missed taking control of the contest with his seventh race wager. Jim bet a $100 exacta with the #3 over the #1-4. The race result came in 3-4-1 and Jim collected $1560 (50 x $31.20). If Jim had used the same post positions, but made his wager a trifecta wager instead of an exacta wager, the wager would have cost the same, but he would have collected $13,830, passing Cliff for the lead. But as the poet John Greenleaf Whittier once said: For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been.' Just remember Jim, it's only make-believe money.
Good luck on Friday night's contest finale as the Fillies and Mares go postward on what should be a fairly warm Spring evening with temperatures in the sixties.
