Friday Night Heads-Up

The first race on Friday night, September 10, seems to present a couple of upset possibilities:

#5 Bytemetoni (8-1): She was tightened up last time out, going three wide and closing for third against a sharp Dateworthy. This will be her third start back off a sick scratch. Driver/trainer Ken Koch gets along well with her.

#6 Legacy Chip (10-1): Trust me, this trotter will not go off at anywhere near 10-1 odds. Raced competitively against much better at The Meadows earlier this summer. Trot specialist Kurt Sugg teams with hot trainer Billy Knipper.

I can't choose between 1-6 in that 1st. Passola for moi.
2:6 lightly, hope get 6-1
3:4-3-1, Stillings has speed horse and class
4:8-4-9, going with Jim's combo 12-1 Miller Hollar
5: pass
6:9-5-1,Dan C hits winner circle
7:7-1, lightly as youngins brk so often
8:pass
9:4-5-7, 4 has 3/5 brks at higher class - can dan c steady her
10:3-9-8
11:7-5-2
12:3
13:5-1
14:2-9

Feel extremely fortunate to have eaked out a profit tonight. What is it about the 2-yr-olds that they not only break like crazy but seem to "spread it" to all the other races as well. LOL

1:glad I passed. Keith's pick paid 6.20, wish I'd piggybacked!
2:6 did go off 4-1, but never was in it. small loss
3:Stillings horse didn't have it afterall, ran solid 2nd but close doesn't count.Miller brings home 33.20 winner here, d**n
4:Miller/Hollar didn't strike at 5.8-1 after all
5:glad I passed ( a theme I should have done for 1st 9 races LOL )
6:Miller edges out with 7.20 over my Charlino pick ( Robin was winning with everyone BUT Hollar so far )
7:7 just didn't show much in speedy race, second pick 1 did tho
8:glad I passed again as Charlino rides to 9.00 payout on one I didn't like and Miller/Hollar 3rd
9:ended up passing. After watching Superstripe struggle in warmups in the 1st ( was in the grass? and couldn't get her chit together and eventually scratched ) and another one struggle and then break twice - not sure who that was, I was watching CatherineTheGreat warm up intently knowing she'd been having trouble lately A LOT and she also had Dan C struggling and in the grass and he couldn't get her to trot in warmups. So I passed. Was surprised she held it together as long as she did! LOL!

So I'm 0-fer so far (with 4 passes in 9 races at least )

10: Thank u Dan C. Finally hit the board with a nice 12.20 payout, Dan Noble and Scoot edged out my exacta but I can't complain as this score saved the night!!!
11:Cupcake broke early and then d**n near made it all back but was just too bushed at the end, d**n as at 4.3-1 that would have been sweet and she was clearly better than the fav w/o the break IMO. #2 spotted the field like 40 lengths and still took 3rd so she was quality too. These 2 yr olds drive me nuts!
12:She is a Hollar-back girl!, as Miller gets a Hollar horse into the winner circle despite an early break. That grey had a lot as she was charging. I also ended up on the exacta with Dan C on #8 so this was a nice one for moi - had to sweat it tho.
13:late $ on the 5 drove it to 1-5 and I passed. Was not pleased to see it break for Dan C. but was glad I didn't back it.
14:nice 5.60 score, and some 8.00 exacta to end the night. Thought Mindy nipped her but I'll take the tie!

I'm glad my $ management had me taking it easy thru 7 poor races, so I could be ready for winning 3/4 I played to end! Tough capping tho. I really don't like all those breaks!!!!!
