Hoping to get a discussion going on how you handicap a race at Northfield with a nine horse field.
I'll start with a few things i look for
A- Look at the race conditions , sometimes a horse just gets into the race by a few bucks
B- Look for the contenders , if more than 3 or 4 contenders i'll skip the race
C-Form , i love a horse who's got sharp form and moving up in class
D-Driver , see if you can find a horse that can beat Charlino's choice of horse to drive
ok cappers let's here a few from you Junior and the Giss , you daily Nfld cappers it would be great to here a few pointers fon what you do on any given race day in and day out

(unless of course it's a horse that gets early money each week from the owner..like when Scott use to bet $1,000 on Rackem's Road) ;D

It is also important, imo, to watch warmups, or at least post parades. I recently posted elsewhere how hard it is for me, 'capping cards two days in advance, to get it right. Then I go on the air and do my picks, before the post parade. Impossible. And I cannot go to the windows and bet a horse I haven't given out. So i lose some opporutnities.
I am a huge angle player, and like Junior said, driver changes are huge at Northfield. Not just programmed changes, but late changes. I think we do a pretty good job announcing changes (yes, I miss a few on air) and running them on a crawl, but a lot of folks at remote locations do not pay attention and that leaves a chance for value, too.
And Junior's point about early money can be a trap, as he pointed out with his Rackem's Road example. While it can be an angle, do not let the board talk you out of your own opinion.
