Giss, you often refer to The Snowman in your handicapping, but I haven't figured out who that is. I'm assuming it's a trainer? Dean Santantonio?
Why is he (whoever he is) called The Snowman?

It's a golf term. A snowman is when you score an 8 on a hole. Therefore, post 8 is "the snowman."

Thanks Giss. I've never played any golf, so that term is completely new to me. I wasn't even good at playing Putt Putt so I never saw any reason to chase a little white ball all over creation just to have a few beers.

Question on the 8 hole, was there ever a rule that if you scratched from the 8 hole, you were assigned the 8 hole when you returned? There seems to be a lot of "8 hole flu" lately.

Question on the 8 hole, was there ever a rule that if you scratched from the 8 hole, you were assigned the 8 hole when you returned? There seems to be a lot of "8 hole flu" lately. Northfield rule was that if you scratched from the 7 or 8 hole and entered to race less than seven days later, you were assigned there again. Some confusion as to whether that meant entered or to race. Fact is that right now, with a bit of a horse shortage, it appears it is not being enforced. That may change with the move to a four-day schedule next week.
