When Charlino was commuting from the Meadows on a full time basis, I think he was trying to showcase himself, establish future trainer connections and dominate a weaker Northfield driving colony... all three... in anticipation of video slots coming to Northfield. He may have just got tired of doing all that highway driving for the low purses involved. He's not a spring chicken any more. The NFLD driving colony is much stronger with a resurgent Ryan Stahl, the youthful Ty Smith and the drug free Danny Noble. The video slots issue is tied up in court right now with no resolution in site (that I know of).
