Got robbed last Northfield,Again

Went to northfield for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.Got robbed for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.....May 26th,did the usual,paid for my seat,got something to drink,set my butt down for a lazy night at the track.
After going outside to watch the 4th race,i return to my tv and realize that someone stole my DA... Smokes.Yes i still have that bad habit..I start asking people around me,but nobody saw anything.So,i go pay $8 for a pack out of the machine...So now i'm really pissed.I go looking for security,can't find them anywhere...I finally find one,but he is busy doing something so i let it go......
Fast forward to last night...Same routine,this time i buy a DRF so i can wager Mountaineer.I never wager runners without a DRF,just the way i am...Must of been around the 4th race i walked outside to watch Northfieds live race.I go back in,lo and behold,my DRF is gone.They did leave my tip sheet from Northfield,(free with purchase of the program,i'm fine picking my own losers)and they also left my scratch sheet.Now,i'm smoking hot..I again ask people around me if they had seen anyone walk by and pick up my chit..."No,but if you don't take your stuff with you,they will steal it",is what i heard again....
So,now my bloods boiling and i go looking for security.Now i know i'm not going to get, or expect anything from them,i just need to vent..After 3 loops around the lower grandstand,i find nobody..Finally,about 20 minutes later,i see the girl cleaning out the tote machines,and she has a security guard with her,so i walk up and ask him if he has any helpers around that can listen to my gripe,seeing how he was busy..I finally get to talk to Northfields "director of security" and explain my situation..I know,and he knows,that there is not much he or i could do about it.But i did let him know about my thoughts about the lack of visable security..He asked me my name,shook my hand,and he was very apoligetic..
Got up this morning,called the track,and left my name and number.I told Sally,the switchboard operator,that i'd like to talk to someone as high up the pay scale as possible...I guess i may have to ask if they are hireing for security.
As a gambling man,i feel confidant,that i could go undercover at the track tonight,and catch at least 1,if not 2 or 3 people taking things out of the TV area tonight.And i wouldn't be surprised if they are working in pairs,with 1 guy acting as a lookout,for people coming back in from outside.
Been going here WAY to long to just sit on my hands and let this go.I'm REAL tempted to go out tonight,and set one of these guys up to get his arm broken.But i'll wait for someone from the track to call me,and see what they have to say...

Scojer, I hear what you are saying. I used to sit upstairs in the carrel area adjacent to the fabulous Lucky Lady restaurant until they closed that section because of austerity. We had a nice group of 10-15 men and women who knew each other by sight if not by name. I always felt comfortable leaving my programs, my $35 genuine Cleveland Indians cap and even my cell phone at my betting carrel while I went to the john or to one of the tote machines. And, from the second floor, you could see the live race without having to leave your seat and go outside.

Changes at Northfield Park in recent years:

1) Built microbrewery
2) Removed microbrewery
3) Built upstairs "sports bar"
4) Closed upstairs "sports bar"
5) Closed grandstand snack bar
6) Closed snack bar next to the sports bar
7) Closed the grandstand except for Friday and Saturday
8) Closed the restaurant except for Friday and Saturday
9) No restaurant buffet on Fridays and only on some Saturdays
10) Reduced the restaurant menu to a couple of entree choices*

On the positive side, they built the Trackside Lounge and renovated the entire ground floor betting carrel area and they did a good job doing it.

Scojer, I have to admit when I first saw your subject title "Got Robbed at Northfield Again", I thought you might be referring to Frank Harris, who has been robbing me of winning trifecta tickets the last month or so. When I omit him from my trifecta ticket, he burns me by hitting the board with a longshot.

I hear you on Frankie Harris. The one or two times I try to save a few dollars by leaving him off a tri wheel is when he sits the rail, does nothing and slobs into a third. We are both in trouble Friday as it seems he has a horse in every race.

As for Scorer, we have as Yogi Berra might put it "a similiar different problem" at my home track of Buffalo Raceway. It is not the fellow patrons that you need to look out for but rather the cleaning crew. They are in such a hurry to clean up and get you out of there that the minute you leave to make a wager or use the john they come flying through clearing out eveything you left behind. We've had forms, pens, food and betting tickets trashed on us before we've taken five steps away. This is particularly true when the live racing card has ended and we try to wager late simulcast tracks. Very frustrating.
