I noticed in the results from yesterdays races a new trainer and driver who had a little success.
He is Ba Stimer. Does anyone know his history and where he comes from. Is he a new threat to add to the list.
Another question to throw out there is:
What makes a young driver like Tyler Smith so much more sucessful that more experienced drivers that have been around for many more years. Does he have a way of working the horses. There must be a secret there somewhere. Like Aaron he can take a horse that looks like a dog on paper and work him onto the ticket.

I believe Bart Stimer is another of the Michigan horse people who MAY be exploring Ohio racing possibilities now that we are going to have the purses supplemented by video slots. Ronnie Wrenn Jr raced in Michigan prior to coming to Northfield (and now racing some days at Buffalo).
As far as Ty Smith, I believe he is the same teenager who a few years back was touted as a country fair race announcer when he was 12-13 years old. No doubt that watching and calling a lot of races, he witnessed various driving strategies and perhaps that translated into a better understanding of how to actually drive a horse. He is very good at getting the most out of a horse. We have three excellent young drivers at Northfield now: Chris Page, Ronnie Wrenn Jr and Ty Smith. Will Page and Smith head back to Scioto in May? I hope not.
As Aaron Merriman, Greg Grismore and Jimmy P found out, if you have any kind of talent, you go where the money is and for years now, it aint been at Northfield. Hopefully that will change in the next year.
