Taylor, I went to Northfield on Friday night, after a three month respite from the track. The upstairs restaurant (and adjacent betting carrels) has been closed all Spring and finally reopened in June. I thought they were renovating the restaurant, but they didn't do anything to enhance the place. It was a money saving gesture. Meanwhile, construction continues in the parking lot on the new Hard Rock entertainment complex, which will feature the video slot machines which are supposed to save racing in Ohio.
Your comment in another thread about the 1-9 shots winning most of the races was very true and one of the reasons that I am still unable to make any money at Northfield. I did manage to to salvage the night by hammering an exacta at The Meadows for a total of $380. I'm not sure anything can save Northfield at this juncture.

Trackrat , the casino at the track will certainly help in the short term , in the case of Ontario after 15 years the agreement with the racetracks is up and 55,000 people involved in racing are fighting the lottery corporation , or provincial government over what once was very profitable for both . Nice that you salvaged that Friday with a nice exacta win , ex is a good wager at tracks were the pools are big. I too have been giving handicapping a rest for some time now , breast cancer has claimed my dear mother in law this week after a year long battle that she fought to the end. My in laws retired up north (7 hr drive one way ) so the past few months have been tough .
