...about Norman Pheeny in the 7th. There was nothing in his recent performance that would indicate he could or would win tonight, but look as I might I couldn't find a horse in that race that I liked. I guess I was being nostalgic with the pick, cause I couldn't help remembering his invitational days, not so long ago. In fact if you had told me a year or so ago that any of the horses in this field could touch Norman Pheeny, I would have called you crazy. In fact the overplayed favorite, Three Sox Missing wouldn't have finished within 30 lengths of old Norm a couple of years ago. I know, I know, that was then and this is now, but still I have a hard time accepting Sox would be favored over Norm anytime, anywhere. I also remember Norm was always good on an off track, as he was tonight. And there was also the "Corky" factor. I think I've memtioned Jones is my value driver. To be honest, if Magical Marti didn't break at the start, he probably would have beaten Norm. Marti , another class act when right, recovered to finish 3rd. Now for the sad part...because I seldom wager hunches, I had absolutely nothing to show for that pick. Nothing, nada.
