...I was reading on a harness message board ,a response to a question that i think would create a bit of discussion amongest the current members and guests. .... Questions ? Who is/was, your favorite race horse , to race over the flying turns? Who is your favorite horse ,currently racing at Northfield ? ....Who was or were your favorite driver's at Northfield in the past ?.....What current driver, do you like sitting behind the horse you wager on, that is currently driving at Northfield Park?
.....I'm a relative newcomer to Northfield racing ,but i will start off with my choice of favorite horse...... Cambest Prince ,a winner on the oval on so many occasions ,he's the type of horse that brought people to the track to cheer him on , a true champion of the flying turns. ....My current favorite horse competing at the present time is much tougher- Equalize gives it his best each start . The driver from the past is an easy choice for me,Walter Case Jr,when i started to follow Northfield there were two reasons, i like i/2 mile action and Walter was making news all over at the time,he seemed to be able to win from any post on the track. ..... My favorite choice for current driver goes to Arron Merriman, heads up driver(does lean back a bit in the bike as he drives to the wire on occasion)lol, Arod , always gives the horse a chance to win and thats all i ask.

Flashy P, Bit o Ribs, Bologna Lips, U R Foxy, Cambest Prince, Urbane, and Dunkster have all been favorites of mine at some point.
I didnt start going to the track until after Walter was suspended. I dont have a favorite driver but Ken Holiday used to win when I didnt bet him, and lost pretty much every time I did.

My favorite was one of my horses. ;D Home Plate. Actually he was the full brother to Hot Hitter. He didn't make it in NJ or NY or in Canada but when we had him for a year he missed getting checks only two times in 39 starts for the year and won 13 times. Most in Opens and the highest claimer's at NFLD he made 40,000 in 1985. Not too bad. I was fortunate to see all the battles and the great horses and drivers throughout the years.(Maybe thats says I'm getting OLDDDDDDD ) My favorite drivers: wow too many lol anyone that won with the horses I had, but now there are two special drivers, Josh and Arod. Josh because I watched him as a little kid grow into being a man, plus he gave my dad, sis and I happy memories(well all of the Kash's did) but the last few years dad would always tell me "Josh won 3 races last night and paid 39.00!! and so forth) and my dad used to always say(in his Italian accent) That's a my boy!!. Arod: to see him at Raceway racing for peanuts and stepping up to the plate(no pun intended with my former horse) with J-Bo and seeing him as one of the top drivers at NFLD. I want to say this about Josh, Aaron, and Jason. What they did for those kids at the hospital was HUGE!!!! I know that Josh has already done the same in Buffalo already. Those three drivers I will always respect no matter how they do on the track.

Horses first.....just to name a few, as my memory and old programs were left at home this morning! LOL Some oldies from yester-year: Grritt Red, Miss Judy Comfort, Varsity Type, Sweet Carrie Lou, Dottie Dart(who is prolly in Nathan's barn as we speak, in her mid 20's I believe)......and Lucky Penny. Let's not forget Bad Boy Elmo. Dan Ross is probably my favorite driver, circa 1985 thru 2001, mostly late 80's for [glow=red,2,300]value-type[/glow] bets. Of course, this decade he's had a few good ones too. Walter Case was always a pleasure to watch, even tho the odds were sometimes 1/5, 2/5, 3/5 , and Jimmy P and David Ward were fun too . In fact, 4 years ago, Northfield had one of the top, most competitive driving colonies all under one roof (consistently)....Ward, Brett, Jimmy, Dave Hawk, Case, Tharps, Grismore. Some favorite horses now retired, fairly recently....Cam's Valentine and Rackems' Road. TWO BIG REASONS to show up on Friday and Saturday nights. ;D

LOL.Horse named Kissin,He was the last horse i needed in my win/place 9 ticket in 1993.BIG payoff.lol.Gypsy King,Lumbergart had more heart than most even if he was a $3 claimer.I got to see a few drivers struggle over the years,Jimmy P,Mickey Mc'Daniels was a good one till he got on the chit.My favorite also was Dan Ross.I watched him in the $10,000 final of a $3k series on the lead at the top of the stretch with a horse coming at him,by the time they got to the finish,Dan had moved off the rail and was pushing him into the winners circle. He kept him from passing, but of course he got dq'd.It was great.I to like A-rod.Alway's gives his horse a shot.
