I just spent the evening at the Meadows. Handicapped all the races as I went along, did lousy, as usual..... I always look at the "Choices by "The Voice" when I visit the Meadows, just to compare my picks with his. Usually I can do as well as he can, or even better sometimes. I hit 3 wins, 3 places, and 3 shows there tonight. "The Voice" hit 10 wins!!!, 1 place, and 2 shows! Since I've been watching him, he's hardly ever done even better than me! After his hitting 5 for 5 tonight, I started wagering his picks instead of mine, and did well! Tonight - WOW! By my calculations, that's a UHRS of .863! I know it must be a stroke of luck for this guy, but it still impressed me. Does anyone know who "The Voice" is? And has anyone on this board done that well recently? Or even ever? I think my best is around .630 or something like that - for a novice like me, that's something I can be proud of. But .863? How often does that happen?

Blackwater...the voice should mean the announcer at that track , i would imagine...8 wins is about the best lately by our cappers...and with so many nw200 , 3 claimers ,etc that was partially the fact that Miller had a record setting night and the handicapper who accomplished the feat , Jay....was able to see a possible record setting night coming after going over the program and seeing that Miller had the horses to make it happen.

Roger Huston has been nicknamed The Voice for years. I think he gave himself the nickname . He's a Big-time chalk picker. When I did The Meadows TV Shows, I ended getting fired as a result of the nickname. I was doing the preakness simulcast show and the day before Frank Sinatra head died. The Headline in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette was 'THE VOICE IS STILLED.' Early in the show, I asked folks to stop calling and to relax --that Roger Huston was fine and it was "only" Frank Sinatra who died. They went crazy with laughte rin the control room, but apprently soemone in top management didn't like it. They brought me back about amonth later, though.
