You mean they only have a dining area , no bar with 150 tv screens ?

They have a Sports Bar on the second floor and a High Rollers Lounge but no pub that I am aware of. Supposedly, admittance to the High Rollers Lounge is restricted to whales who are betting $1,000 or more a night. Maybe Keith can clarify that.
There are some tables around the Sports Bar but they are mostly occupied by folks sitting adjacement to the snack bar.

OK.......... Let me re-phrase that!
I'll be at the Sports Bar holding down a table for us! What I call a pub is any local watering hole, so....... the bar is where I'll be! We can move to the grandstand or anywhere from there.......
Looks like SulkyHaven will fly in from out east to join us, and I'm still working on The Believer (he'll be there - he just HAS to be - LOL) so we should have a nice little gathering that weekend! I'm still waiting on word from Jay about the blanket - the more that chip in, the smaller the "per-head" price!
It's all coming to a head, folks! Thanks for all your responses, and your offers to help! It's time to get busy working out the final details - any help will be MOST appreciated!
See you at the track October 19/20!

Time's getting short, friends!
We need confirmations on the buffet for Saturday night, a dollar figure and where to send the money for a blanket, and whatever other info the Giss may need from us to make this thing fly!
Also, my wife is looking forward to coming along that weekend, but only if other wives or significant others are going - she doesn't want to be the only woman there amonst a motley group of handicappers talking about nothing but horse racing! I would appreciate responses on this matter ASAP so we can plan accordingly!
So let's hear it folks! This is going to be a great event, but only if we all put the effort into making it happen! See ya at the track!

Sounds like a good time. I definitely won't make the dinner, but I'll try to stop by and say hi.

See ya at the track on the 19th! BW

Hey BW...well, as expected, in my line of work schedules are hard to keep. Something fairly important came up that weekend. Please LMK what I owe for the blanket and how you want me to send it. Thanks...Lon

Thanks so much, Jay!!
Pam will be pleased to know that there will be a few other women there as well. Sulkyhaven had to bow out, but still wants to contribute - the per member cost is going down steadily - perhaps we should wait till we get there to tally up?
Moondog suggested that we meet Friday at a sports bar near the track (as the prices at the bar at Nfld are a bit high), and then heading to the track from there. I'm ok with meeting at Northfield Park on Friday, but does anyone else have a preference to start the weekend elsewhere? Let us all know!
Keith, it looks like we'll have around 12-18 people there for the buffet Saturday - can you give us an approximate cost and an update on accomodations? What else do you need from us?
The responses have been great! But we need more input so we can make this weekend turn out the way we all want it to! So let's hear it, folks!

What kind of deal is that??? You can get the Buffet on your own for $18.95: Smorgasbord Buffet every Friday and Saturday Featuring two carved meats on the weekends, at least three entrees, two pastas, two soups, full salad bar and dessert table and now offering a Sundae Bar!! Fri-Sat $18.95 You are supposed to give us a discount since we are a special group: Regular parking is $1.00-[glow=red,2,300]Free before 5:30 pm[/glow] Admission is $3.00 for the clubhouse- [glow=red,2,300]I get in free anyway.[/glow] Northfield program-$2.00- [glow=red,2,300]I print my own so its free[/glow]. On my Own=[glow=red,2,300]$18.95+Tax and Tip[/glow] Discounted rate-[glow=red,2,300]around $23.00[/glow] Great deal Keith I think I will pass and pay my own way. Way to give us a break??? Typical Northfield hospitality. I think you just priced the group out of the Clubhouse. $23.00 and no Alcoholic drinks included. Add 3 or 4 of them for the night and your looking at around $86.00 for 2 before bets. Throw in another $10.00 for the blanket now were up to $96.00. Lets get a firm Head count on this great deal. Are you in???

Are you in??? Howard- $18.95+7% tax (1.32) and tip @20%(3.79) and non-alcoholic beverages inmcluded( let;'s say $2.00 for sake of discussion) . Parking $1.00; clubhouse admission $3.00; prgram $2.00. That;s $32+. Acvtual cost is $22.75 but I figured high rollers like you all wouldn't worry about the quarter. Sorry you haven chosen not to attend. For the rest of you, if Howard speaks for the group and you don't feel the price is appropriate, we can cancel with no hard feelings. Hang out at concession stands or the bar and have a great time-- join me on the apron for a cigar (on me). It's your call.

Never said I was not attending. Just said I would't take you up on your great deal. I will just order off the menu and use my Players card to get a discount. It just isn't a great deal for me because:
1. I will be their before they charge for parking. (Before 5:30 pm)
2. I get free admission.
3. The buffett is no bargin at $18.95 since that is the same price for everybody at the track that night. I thought you were giving us a deal on this:(
4. I won't have to Tip 20 percent if the Service is bad.
5. I Print my own programs.
So you can see its NOT A GREAT DEAL FOR ME PERSONALLY. I just thought you were going to give are group a better price then just what you offer everybody. I just think that after you add in for the real drinks at around $4-$6 a pop it would be an expensive night for some people. I suggest we just order off the menu and that would allow for more people to attend based on price. I think then their is only like a $8.00 or $9.00 minimun per person. Maybe Keith could kick in free parking and admission to the group members attending. I'm sure the group would appriciate it. For now we need a firm count who is going for sure. Then we can ask all who are attending what setting they would like based on what they can spend etc. Like I said before Keith treat your fans with respect and hosptillity and then maybe they will come back/Tell their friends/ Schedule their own Birthday parties etc and increase your attendence in the process. Like Sam Walton said: "We let folks know we're interested in them and that they're vital to us. cause they are." Another is: There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else." Please Keith let upper management see these quotes. They could help your business in the future.
Howard
