Being from out of town, I appreciate the "one price for all" set up You're offering, Keith. I can, however, see how you local guys like Howard could feel differently. I plan to be there to have fun and enjoy the company of the rest of the Cappers from the board - it'll be a mini-vacation for me, so I don't mind a little more expense in that area. I'll be spending money in fuel, meals on the road, hotel, etc. anyway! Not to mention all my losing wagers! LOL!
You're right, Moondog, we DO NEED a count on everyone that plans to be there, and thoughts/preferences on the buffet/accomodations, etc. So let's hear it folks! It's two weeks away!!
Thanks, Keith, for fixing us up, and for all your other help! And thanks, Howard, for your input as well! I'm looking forward to a great weekend, and to meeting you guys!

Count me in, as I said in a previous post my wife plans on joining us. I look forward to meeting all in person Got our tournament draw yesterday. If we win our fist match on 10/17, we would play a day match on 10/20, so I will be able to attend (unless the 11 seed beats the 3 in the first round). ANd, i won't be working.

That's great news, Keith!
OK! From the responses we've gotten, It looks like we have a definite 9:
Jay44224, Loretta Moondog33, wife (name?) Scojer LongShot Mike TheGiss BlackWater, Pam 150Flat said he'd stop by, but will not be joining us for dinner.
So all in all we should have 10+ people attending the First Annual Handicappers Weekend! This is gonna be GREAT FUN!
As far as dinner Saturday evening is concerned, should we go for the buffet "package price" or just fend for ourselves and meet in the clubhouse at around 6? Pam and I are ok with either (Keith - any comments?). Also - we'll have some ladies there, so if any of you other guys want to bring your wives along, please do and let us know!
Jay has been working on the blanket, and as far as I know, it's all sewn up! We can settle up with him when we get together, so hold back 15 or so bucks from the windows for that. If Sulkyhaven or The Believer or anyone else want to contribute, you can send (no more than) $10 to me and I'll see that it gets to John - write me for my address.
Here we go, folks! 8 days to post time!

I've held off deciding whether to attend because of a flair-up of a pinched nerve in my shoulder which has been causing pain and numbness in my right arm if I am upright for any length of time. It's an old injury but it recurrs. My doc, who is the Cleveland Indians internist at Lutheran Medical Center, tells me that these kinds of issues resolve themselves over time, so in the past he has prescribed Celebrex (expensive, not covered by prescription plan AND does nothing for this condition), alternate ice and heat and rest. The last time I had this, it resolved itself in about six weeks. Anyway, I MIGHT be able to attend one of the two nights, but not sure yet. I sense that a couple of winning trifecta tickets might ease the pain when the endorphins kick in.
So, count the Trackrat as a "maybe". Since I get the program and admission free, the track dinner package doesn't appeal to me, so don't count me with those choosing a package deal. BTW, for those who are attending the first time, the buffet dinner is excellent and all-you-can-eat until 9 o'clock PM.
No one has talked about it, but Giss or Jay, would there be any opportunity for the group to tour the barn and paddock area if we arrived early? That's if anyone is interested?

Ask your doc if Lyrica might help. Assuming my schedule doesn't change, we can take a backstretch/paddock tour, but it owuld have to be around 5:30-- once stuff starts happening in the paddock, we try to avoid groups. We would be back to clubhouse about 6:15 or so. I can confirm that Tursday 10/18, but I am 99% sure it will be fine.

Keith, my 83 year old mom takes Lyrica for neuropathy in her legs. For years she had trouble sleeping a night because of pain and cramps but now she says it works miracles. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks, Howard PS-Wife's name is Belinda As mentioend previously, at the point we rererved ALL races were already named on Saturday. Our blanket presentation will be Friday. And it now appears that I will have to work that night, but will still be able to spend plenty of time with the group and lead a backstertch tour. I will probably have one or two guest handicappers each for one race.

They will be great. Unfortunently I will not be attending on Friday night as I will be out of town for my anniversary. See you all on Saturday.
